Two great games in prospect - my bet on Italy to win Euro 2012 back in May is still on. Got 16-1 at the time.

Very strange tht he didnt take either first or second penalty.

I think Ronaldo thought that the 5th penalty would be the winning one but unfortunately Bruno Alves smashed his penalty off the bar.

Probably wanted all the glory, he should have just got up there and took the first. Only caught extra time and penalties, didn't miss much in the 90 mins by the sounds of it!

I only watched the second half but from what I saw Portugal was very much in in the game!

Really looking forward to tomorrows game......if past history is anything to go by Italy v Germany will be a classic.

Chiellini missed the quarter-final with England due to a thigh problem, but has shaken it off in record time to start this evening’s clash.

So far Chiellini has been used in central defence, but tonight he’s re-routed to left-back because Balzaretti is needed on the right.

Ignazio Abate has not recovered in time from his injury and Christian Maggio is suspended, so Palermo left-back Balzaretti has to switch flanks in order to fill in the gaps.

Daniele De Rossi plays through the pain of sciatica to start and Riccardo Montolivo retains his spot as the more advanced point of the diamond midfield, supporting Cassano and Balotelli.

There were reports Alessandro Diamanti or Antonio Nocerino could start, but they are on the bench along with Antonio Di Natale.

Well it certainly was but I'm now 114 Forza Italia

Brilliant performance. Balotelli finally put in a performance for Italia and really looking forward to the final. If we can play them just as we did in the first game, we should be able to stifle them and get the win.

It could easily have been five tonight, Italy controlled the game completely!

I cannot think of a single player who did not perform tonight; the Germans just did not have an answer.
